The Centre possesses archive material and Collections which are for the most part unpublished.  In order to protect the Archive, access to its material, for genuine scholarly purposes, can be granted only after approval has been given by the Steering Committee of the Centre.

 

  • Manuscript Archive
    This Archive consists of 7,946 mostly unpublished manuscripts containing information on a variety of folklore material.
  • National Music Collection
    A Music Section was created as part of the Folklore Archive, which in 1927 absorbed the National Music Collection.
  • National Record Collection
    The National Record Collection was established in the Folklore Centre in 1966 in accordance with Law 4545.
  • Museum Collection
    The Museum Collection of Folklore Objects was established in 1939 and today has about 1,000 exhibits.
  • Photographic Archive
    The Centre has a rich photographic collection, of about 10,000 photographic prints and numerous negatives.
  • Cinema Archive
    Cinema Archive:  In 1962, the then Director Georgios Spyridakis founded the Cinematographic Section for Folk Culture Topics.
